Our Story
In 1990, a member of the K. C. council at St. Francis of Assisi Church in Castle Rock, Colorado, felt called to make a pilgrimage to Medjugorjee, a small, Croation village in Bosnia, Herzagovina, Yugoslavia where the Blessed Mother was purportedly appearing to six young people. As he prayed in the “apparition room,” a small side chapel. the Joyful Mysteries really come alive. He felt Joseph’s shame over not providing a better place for Mary to give birth, and he kept opening his eyes to jot down his reflections.
After about five such occurrences, he prayed, “Lord, what am I going to do with all these meditations?” With eyes closed, he saw white capital letters on a black background which said, “MAYBE YOU COULD MAKE A VIDEO.” Quickly he opened his eyes to see if others in the crowded room had heard it, too; but they were all deep in prayer.
ENTER THE KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS: After he returned home, his council’s Grand Knight called to ask if he would serve as their Church Director (now called Faith In Action Director.) He agreed, and he asked if he could lead the council’s next pre-meeting Rosary with meditations based on the Medjugorje notes. Coincidentally, the Knights had recently lost the meditations they usually used.
Before leading the Rosary, he knelt nervously and prayed, “Dear G0od, if this is something you want me to do, could you please have someone say, “I’ve never prayed the Rosary like that?” After the Rosary, Earl M. came up and said with tears in His eyes, “I’ve never prayed the Rosary like that.”
A SIGN? The next month , he again knelt in prayer and asked, “Lord, I hate to bother you, but if you want me to do this through the Knights, could you give me some kind of a sign?” Later, during the meeting, he offered to put Medjugore medals onto the Knights’ rosaries. Coincidentally , he had just received the medals that day. As he worked on their rosaries, his hands started shaking. About a dozen of the Rosary chains had changed from silver to a gold color.
After the meeting, he asked the men to examine t their rosaries. Pete R. said, “That rosary was silver. I got that rosary in the Holy Land and I know it was silver.” “Otto G. said, My daughter gave me that rosary, and it was silver!” When he got home, the Knight found that his wife and son (who had attended the rosary earlier) saw that their rosaries had also changed. About 15 rosaries in all had turned gold that night. What a sign!
AUDIO TAPES: In the meantime, while starting distribution of “The Knights of Columbus Rosary” booklet, the Knight was asked to lead the Rosary for a Medjuborje prayer gathering in Denver. Unsure how to proceed with the original message of making a video, he knelt and prayed, “Dear God, I don’t know how to make a video, but I think I could make a n audio tape. If you want me to make a tape, could You give me some kind of a sign?” That night, after the Rosary, several people came up and asked, “Do you have any tapes?”
Every time a question arose, he prayed for guidance and an answer always came, sometimes in the form of a very-clear thought, other times by a phone call. Over the years, the council has sent out nearly 63,000 booklets, tapes, and 2 CD sets.
MOVING FORWARD: Many people have told us that they love these books and CDs, but age and health issues prevent us from continuing our work in its present form.
BOTTOM LINE: we are offering K.C. councils and Catholic organizations /parishes the last of our books for $2-3.00 depending on order size and are GIVING A 2-CD SET FREE with each book. A $22 value for as low as $2.00.
In the future , our prayer aids will only be available online FREE OF CHARGE. Please continue to check this site for new, inspirational prayers, meditations and teachings.
We do plan to accept free-will offerings to enable us to continue our work
Stories of God's Grace
Stories shared with us while we pursued our mission.
A Hospice Conversion: We regularly gave rosary tapes to twin sisters who are also nuns to share with patients and families at the Denver hospice where they worked. One night a man was upsetting everyone in the ward with his ranting and raving. He had been away from the Church for years and had declined to see a priest. He e was not “going quietly into the night.”
One of the sisters asked if he would like to listen to her Rosary tape to which he agreed. Later, when she went to check on him, tears were running down his face. He asked to see a priest, received the Sacraments, and passed away later that night.
A Deacon from Illinois stopped by Our Church and told the staff this story. A woman in his parish was praying the Rosary with the Knights of Columbus Rosary tape when the phone rang. Her teenage son and daughter had been in a bad car accident. She rushed over to the location, and when she saw the mangled car, her heart fell. She thought, “ No one could come out of that wreck alive.” But then her heart leapt as she saw her children emerge from a nearby house! She felt that they survived because she was praying with The Knights’ Rosary tape.
Lucy, a parishioner who had led to our Knight’s Medjugorje pilgrimage, told us about that her rosary had changed color. One morning while driving, her rosary got caught on the blinker switch and came apart in several places,; so she stopped at the local jewelry store for repairs. She dozed while the jeweler made the repairs. She was awakened by the sound of a grinder or polisher.
She asked the man what he was doing, and he said that he was cleaning tarnish off her rosary chain. Laughing, she told him that it was not tarnish and that the chain had changed color. In disbelief , he cut into the chain with a jeweler saw and was amazed to find that The gold color did indeed go all the way through the chain!
A Prayer Answered: A brother Knight (also a Medjugorje pilgrim ) was going through a difficult time; so one night in desperation, he prayed, “Lord, I need to know that you love me.” The next morning when driving to Mass, he reached for his small rosary hanging from his rearview mirror – and he was surprised to see that the rosary chain had changed from silver to a gold color.
That Sunday after Mass, he shared his story with his friend John, a mining engineer. John asked if he had another rosary that was still silver. The answer was yes, so John removed links from both rosaries and took them to his company’s state-of-the-art mining lab for analysis.
When the lab report came back, it identified the silver rosary link as tin. The gold link? They could not identify it. In John’s words, “It was a metal not known to man.”
A Council Member’s Wife was Driving to Texas with a friend. After they had chatted for a time, the wife asked her friend if it was okay to pray along with her s Rosary tape. Her companion said that would be fine and she was kind of curious about the Rosary. Listening to that Rosary led her to convert to Catholicism. (NOTE: We are not saying that you do not have to be a Catholic to get to Heaven; we do believe that the Church has some special blessings that help along the way.
